چکیده

OBJECTIVE To explore the risk factors for systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in patients with preoperative negative urine culture (UC). STUDY DESIGN Observational study. PLACE AND DURATION OF Department of Urology, Gazi Hospital, Samsun, Turkey, from January 2015 to 2020. METHODOLOGY Two hundred and twenty-eight patients, who underwent conventional PCNL renal stones, were evaluated. The divided into non-SIRS (Group 1) SIRS 2) groups, effects variables investigated predict development SIRS. RESULTS Despite sterile UC, developed postoperatively 29 (12.7%) patients. univariate analysis revealed a statistically significant difference between groups serum C-reactive protein (CRP) (p 117.36 3.16 mg/L 471 mm2 = 0.023) hemoglobin drop >2.3 g/L <0.001) are independent post-operative PCNL. CONCLUSION PLR, CRP, stone size, can This finding may help classify before PCNL, especially those culture. Key Words: protein, Percutaneous nephrolithotomy, Platelet/lymphocyte ratio, Systemic syndrome.

Risk factors for pulmonary complications after percutaneous nephrolithotomy

Although percutaneous nephrolithotomy is minimally invasive, it is associated with several complications, including extravasation of fluid and urine, the need for a blood transfusion, and septicemia. However, little is known about pulmonary complications after this procedure. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the risk factors for and outcomes of pulmonary complications after percutaneous nephroli...

Risk factors for fever and sepsis after percutaneous nephrolithotomy

Objective Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is commonly used in the management of large renal stones. Postoperative infections are one of the most common complications of this procedure. The present study is to determine and assess the factors that may increase the risk to develop fever and urinary sepsis after PCNL. Methods A total of 60 patients (38 males and 22 females) with a mean age o...

Intraoperative dexmedetomidine attenuates postoperative systemic inflammatory response syndrome in patients who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy: a retrospective cohort study

Purpose Dexmedetomidine (DEX) has been reported to attenuate inflammation in rats. The present retrospective cohort study aimed to investigate whether intraoperative administration with DEX could reduce the incidence of postoperative systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) in patients following percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Patients and methods A total of 251 patients were inclu...

Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome after Massive Extravasation into the Pleural Space of Contrast Medium during Supracostal Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is indicated for renal stones larger than 2 cm and upper ureteral stones not amenable to retrograde management. Supracostal access may enable better access to the entire collecting system and even be preferential in some cases, although having a higher risk of pleural or lung injury, resulting in hydrothorax or pneumothorax. We report a case of a patient who develop...
